Kristine Sta. Rita

In February 1993, a couple named Roy Sta. Rita and Sandra Mae Sta. Rita decided to make their second baby. After my mother carried me for nine months in her womb, on October 10, 1993 I got out from the dark and tiny place inside my mother's and I cried aloud and saw a light for the first time. I am very thankful to God that he gave me Life and also for my parents who brought me in this wonderful world. I have inherited a lot of physical attributes from my mother and followed the behavior of my father.

Kristine Sta. Rita, loves to dance sing, act and explore. Dancing makes me feel good and happy. I sing when I want to express what I feel inside me.I act when I want to entertain others and lastly I explore, I enjoy experiencing and experimenting with all the wonderful things in life. I always love to eat, hang-out,take pictures, and many more. I am also a cheerleader and I love cheer leading a lot.

I love my family a lot even though we are already divided into half we still have the communication everyday. My friends are like my family for they always help and support me. There are persons who passed in my life which I will never forget for they have left a memorable experience with me.

To accomplish great things in life, we must not only dream, but act. In setting our goals let us make sure that we will accomplish it.

Gender Differences in Communication

Men and women are equal but as human beings, men and women also have differences. There are numerous theories on gender differences in communication. Understanding the differences is essential to communicate with opposite gender. Our way of communication is influenced by our gender perspective through the events (experience in daily life), thoughts and behavior (emotions).

Here are some of the gender differences in communication.
  • Women seek out relationships with others while men tend to seek standing and position.
  • Women relate to others as equals while men relate to others as rivals.
  • Women  tend to focus on details of emotions while men tend to focus on the details of fact.
  • Women are more concerned with feelings while men keep concerns to themselves.
  • Women tend to ask for help, advice and directions while men often will not ask for advice, help or directions.
Men interpret the face to face as too personal, or aggressive and women will interpret the talking side to side as though he is hiding something from her. When communicating with women, men can learn sensitivity, openness, and self control with competitiveness. Women can learn  on how  to be more direct, assertive, and mirror the feelings of the men who they are communicating with.  We all are aware of the physical and biological differences of men and women but most distinctions, though, are learned. So what we're considering is the different way women and men think and behave, and as such, communicate from the position of their individually learned gender perspective.

The Listener

The responsibility for listening well is on the listener. To be a good listener you must understand and interpret sound in a meaningful way. Responsible listening is used to give both the speaker and the listener opportunities to explore their feelings and thoughts. A speaker also feels special when someone is listening. When listening, the listener must  maintain silence, focus and should clarify or confirm statements.

Even if the message is not clear or interesting it is still the job of the listener to listen well and to understand the message fully. When becoming an active listener you will be able to avoid misunderstandings. You will also do things right the first time you hear them when you listen effectively. Problems are solved quicker by being an active listener.

Listening is an essential part of communication. When you listen, you are absorbing the messages though your mind. Through it, you can see or imagine the world through the eyes of other people.  It is also a way of accepting responsibility for understanding what the other people are trying say and it creates an atmosphere of trust, honor and respect. Good listeners have a positive energy that makes you want to be in their company. To become an effective communicators, we must listen well to each other.

Self-fulfilling Prophecy

I have read a part of the book "The Secret" it was about the "Law of Attraction". It states that when you are thinking of positive or negative will also result to positive or negative. It is like the "Self-fulfilling Prophecy", this states that "what you predict will happen will happen; what you expect to be wrong will be done wrong.

This law really helped me to become an optimistic person. In doing such things, I always expect to have a positive outcomes and results. So i really strive hard to do things in the right way and manner for me to get that outcome that I've expected. We also need to Focus at the Ends and forget about the Means, the more focused we are on what we want, is more faster to get what we want. We need to check our thoughts and attractions and it should be related on what we want or need.

Even without this Laws and Prophecies we really need to be responsible enough to do our  obligations and responsibilities on our own. Always make your decisions right and truthful.

I Dreamed a Dream

Susan Boyle of Britain's Got Talent

Susan Boyle, a 47 year old Scottish woman joined the Britain's Got Talent 2009. At first, when she was being introduced, the people obviously didn't like and even respect her. She dreamed of becoming a professional singer. She sang "I dreamed the dream" of Elaine Paige, who is her favorite singer.

When she started singing, all were shocked and were really amazed by her powerful voice. She had a plain appearance during that audition but her performance was very amazing and wonderful. When she said that she wants to be like Elaine Paige, everyone was laughing at her but after that surprising and stunning performance everyone gave her a standing ovation. Judges also gave her three 'yes' during that magical audition.

This is just a wake up call to everybody that we must not judge a person by its appearance. We must really need to know what is inside of that person and must not only judge on what we just see on the outside. All of us have hidden talents that we just need to develop and enhance it. We must also not be ashamed of what we look and how people thinks about us. There is nothing to be ashamed of, we are all equal, we are all humans. Just be true, be you!

True Beauty

We must learn to accept what we are and what we look like. We are all beautiful and no one in this world is ugly. All of us are made by the image and likeness of God, all of us are equal no matter how tall or short, white or black & skinny or fat you are.

Some people think that they are being judged by society of what they look. It's so sad that young girls are comparing themselves to others and they are trying to follow what they see in televisions and magazines. On their age, they must enjoy their life as a kid and must not be already busy trying to transform their looks and body as what they see in others people especially those who are older than them. Those are some of the effects of false advertising.

We are all unique in our differences because God made us all special and unique.Be an inspiration not an illusion.

Photoshop

Photoshop in Advertising

Today, most printed advertisements are being altered through Photoshop. “Airbrushing” is a technique used in Photoshop to liquefy and reconstruct, which also allows you to mold and shape figures as well as remove imperfections in the skin. This technique is mostly used in making the models look perfect as goddess.

I think its not fair to fool consumers that the image they see in advertising are real images. In my opinion, I think it's okay if it has only small retouches, but changing the structure of the face and the body is a very different change especially when advertising a product. In fact, what we see in advertising is not actually what they really appear. That's why most women strive for perfection. What they see in the magazines is what they also want to be and look like. The point of advertising is this, when you use this product, you will look like or be like this.No wonder that our perception of beauty is distorted.

Cultural Relativism and Ethnocentrism

Ethnocentrism is “the attitude of prejudice or mistrust towards outsiders that may exist within a group (in-group) in relation to other (out-group)” (Harper-Collin Dictionary of Sociology).

We may have different cultures and beliefs but all of us are equal in the eyes of God. It was stated in the Bible that we are all created in the image and likeness of God. We must learn how to respect each and everyone's culture for our culture be also respected.

We  are also unique in our own differences whether you have dark or white skin it doesn't really matter. In America, most of the people spend a lot of dollars just to make their skin tanned just because they prefer to have their skin darkened than to have it in their natural white complexion. In some cases, dark people get used to whiten their skin because for them its more beautiful than having a dark complexion. Whatever your skin color is you still have the right to be part of the society and you also have the right to voice out on what you are feeling inside. We may all differ in our physical appearance and features but all of us have a heart that feels.

All of us have different traditions, beliefs, and way of living. This is what we are. We are made by God special in our own ways and differences. So live life to the fullest and explore! We are all equal and the same for we are all brothers and sisters. There is no way in this world to segregate the white from dark, rich from poor or strong from weak. We are all different from the outside but we are all HUMANS.
