Cultural Relativism and Ethnocentrism

Ethnocentrism is “the attitude of prejudice or mistrust towards outsiders that may exist within a group (in-group) in relation to other (out-group)” (Harper-Collin Dictionary of Sociology).

We may have different cultures and beliefs but all of us are equal in the eyes of God. It was stated in the Bible that we are all created in the image and likeness of God. We must learn how to respect each and everyone's culture for our culture be also respected.

We  are also unique in our own differences whether you have dark or white skin it doesn't really matter. In America, most of the people spend a lot of dollars just to make their skin tanned just because they prefer to have their skin darkened than to have it in their natural white complexion. In some cases, dark people get used to whiten their skin because for them its more beautiful than having a dark complexion. Whatever your skin color is you still have the right to be part of the society and you also have the right to voice out on what you are feeling inside. We may all differ in our physical appearance and features but all of us have a heart that feels.

All of us have different traditions, beliefs, and way of living. This is what we are. We are made by God special in our own ways and differences. So live life to the fullest and explore! We are all equal and the same for we are all brothers and sisters. There is no way in this world to segregate the white from dark, rich from poor or strong from weak. We are all different from the outside but we are all HUMANS.
